I have never been so cold. From moment I stepped out of the Air Canada plane to the moment I rode the car on the way to our new home, I felt -7 degrees (without windchill) through the thickest jacket that I have ever worn in my entire life. It’s been a day already and I haven’t gone out of the house ever since. It’s now 12:55 AM and the temperature just dropped to -19 degrees…

I was hesitant of riding the airplane to Vancouver-even go to the Mabuhay Lounge, my favorite part of our travels. The only good thing about leaving was that we we’re seated in Business class so my sadness was diverted to the excitement of sleeping soundly and eating all I want in the plane.

The plane ride from Vancouver to Winnipeg had an entertainment system which aired movies and tv series. I watched ‘Footloose’ and an episode of ‘F.R.I.E.N.D.S.’ the entire trip. Good thing I was pre-occupied with the awesome things inside the plane that I wasn’t able to feel the sadness of leaving the Philippines (I still am just not so much).

Not a tear was shed during the entire trip until I saw my cousins at the receiving area of Richardson airport. I didn’t want to cry in front of them especially after a decade of not seeing each other so I just held back the tears…

Tomorrow, we’ll hear mass for the first time here in Canada. Good thing about it is that there’s a skating rink beside the church so I won’t feel so homesick while I’m adjusting to this new place. My cousin will take me to the high school the day after tomorrow to have my grades assessed for UofM. I’ll probably be starting school next Monday so I still have a week to go to chill (pun intended).
